These blowers have an exclusive WHISPAIR™ discharge jet plenum design which allows cool, atmospheric air to flow into the cylinder.
This unique design permits continuous operation at vacuum levels to blank-off with a single stage unit, without water injection. The DVJ’s cooling design eliminates the problems caused by high discharge temperatures at vacuum levels beyond 16” Hg.
FEATURES
- Cylinder - The Whispair™ Vacuum Blower cylinder is precision machined gray iron, strongly ribbed to withstand full vacuum. The cylinder jet ports are designed for overall optimum filling of the trapped volumes formed by the rotors for peak recovery from the force feed-back jet energy. The plenum chambers on both inlet and discharge are sized for low velocity and pressure drop
- Impellers and shafts - The impellers are Liqui-Pass® type, capable of handling water. They are of ductile iron with a tensile strength of 60,000 PSI and a ductility of 15%. The impellers are accurately machined, then statically and dynamically balanced. The shafts are forged alloy steel conservatively sized. The part of the shaft which is exposed to the gas is coated. High strength bolts holding the stub shafts to impellers are torqued and the shafts are pinned. A labyrinth seal is machined in the shaft flange to minimize the air in-leakage
- Headplates - Close grained gray iron headplates are strongly ribbed to withstand full vacuum. All mating surfaces are precision machined
- Bearings - Double row spherical bearings are used to support each impeller assembly. The drive end bearings are fixed axially and control the axial location of the impeller shaft assembly. Lubrication for the gear end and drive end bearings is provided by oil splash systems
- Gears - Wide face, spur timing gears, machined from forged steel, are mounted on timing hubs. The hubs are secured by interference fit and are keyed to the shaft. Gears are lubricated by an oil reservoir located in the bottom of the gear housing
- Sealing water injection system - A flowmeter measures the amount of water injected into the vacuum blower. The water acts to seal the clearances, increase volumetric efficiency and remove most of the heat of compression, permitting cooler and more efficient operation
- Connections - Inlet and discharge connections can be furnished either horizontally or vertically to fit customers’ requirements. Connections are furnished to match A.S.A. 125 lb. standard flanges
